June from A.C.Paw emailed me this picture and note.The kitty is 5 weeks old and was born with no back feet. We are taking him tomorrow at 3:30 to Teeters orthotics to try and fit him with some plastic cones to help replace his feet. Hopefully it works. He is a great little guy. This month we are doing a swap from the Alphabetica book. On the front I painted the background randomly then I added metal tape around a picture of my dad and used a stylus to draw lines and words into the tape. I also added a heart. I made tags that tells what page and technique I used.

Stressed Out.......Breast cancer scare...

I havent been posting much. Two weeks ago I went in for my annual exam and they found a lump in my breast. Three days later I had a mammogram. Then I had to wait for 3 days and see if they called me back. Thank God they didnt call. I think its riduculous that they cant call and tell you either way. Nope, you have to sit and wait for bad news.
Last year I had a mammogram the day before Thanksgiving. The next Monday I got a call saying we see "something" and you have to come back in. A week later I had a sonogram and I could even see the lump. Then I had to go see a breast cancer Dr. Since he couldnt feel the lump I had to make an appointment with the hospital and have a biopsy done. They put a little titanium clip in the spot so they can watch it easier on each mammogram. There was a woman there who was training to do biopsys and they asked me if she could come in and watch, I said sure. Well, I saw her looking whoosy and down she went. Passed out from watching what they were doing to me. Then I had to wait 3 more days to find out if it was cancer. He called me back himself and it was not cancer. It took 30 days and all those appts. to find out if I had cancer. We have no insurance so the biopsy cost almost $2000.00. We are still paying that bill. What a nightmare. I am very thankful that I am o.k.

This is our new dog Kila. It's her first Christmas with us. She decided to try out the cat bed.. She is so funny and loving and she is very vocal. She gets along with our other 2 dogs and 5 cats. She adores my husband and trys to keep other dogs away from him. Jealous that he might give attention to someone else.

I just went and read Bernies latest update. Honestly it makes my cry sometimes to read her blog and see how wonderful and caring she is. How she worrys all night about the animals being put to sleep. All the pictures of the animals she saves are the cutest things ever. I wish we could all do more to help her. This is the front. We had to use 1 CP stamp and make Dark Ladies, witches, etc as the theme. I stamped on polymer clay disks I made and added wire and beads. I attached fibers to the edge. I made Myth with a rubber mold and rubbed pearl-ex on and glazed it.

December technique for AAO- Misty Mawn style-11 pages

Our project this month was to do our own version of Misty Mawn's amazing style. This is the front side of my project. I did layers of inks, paints and rubber stamps. I printed the wings out. The hand is from a magazine. I sanded the face and added a white glaze. I painted over the hand and butterfly wings and added colored pencil. I wish I could see how does her faces.

45 Poe pages for fatbook

I like to do all originals when I make my pages. I rubber stamped over the music background. I used a circle punch to do Poe's face and the tag dangly. I used a copper Krylon pen to go around the face and I heat embossed silver aound the tags. I added gold leaf to 2 of the corners.

This month we chose one of our favorite techniques to use on ATC cards. I chose to do a laser printer transparency. The background is text from an old book adhered to cardstock. On 3 of these I did a wash of white over the text then added gold to the cardstock where the image is see-thru. I machine sewed them on.

50 pages for "White" Fatbook

The scans did not come out too well on these, they look MUCH better in "real" life.

These are the pages I made for a White Fatbook for my Art Chix group. We had to try to use only black and white. I made charms for each page, each one has a different image. I soldered around the edge of each one and added a jump ring.

August Art Technique for Altered Art Obsession

This months technique was from Claudine Hellmuth's "Collage Discovery Workshop Techniques." These pages are 4 x 6. On the front page I painted the background blue and white. I added vintage images, a torn piece from an old book and some lace. I rubber stamped the edge.On the back page I glued a page from an old book on 110# card stock. I painted on yellow ochre and titanium white. Then I heat transferred a laser print onto it. I did the vasoline method and painted blue and white over that. When it was dry I rubbed off the excess paint. I brushed on gel medium and sprayed on a clear sealer when it was all dry.

Every other month we do a different art technique. We picked something we wanted to try from Lynn Perella's "Artist's Journals & Sketchbooks". This piece is 4 x 6. I chose to try the tissue paper background. I gessoed the paper, let it dry, then added tissue paper with gel medium. When that was dry I painted 3 different colors of paint randomly. I also stamped the leaf design in Staz-on. I added a skirt I made out of a vintage magazine to the lady. Then I added a wire beaded tab to the edge. I love trying new techniques, then I dont get stuck in a rut.
